The Hertsmere Borough Council marked a historic milestone by hosting its first-ever World Hindi Day Celebration, which brought together residents, poets, and dignitaries in a vibrant celebration of the Hindi language’s cultural richness and global importance.
On 9th January 2025, Hertsmere Borough Council proudly hosted its first-ever World Hindi Day Celebration, organised by the Deputy Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr Parveen Rani and Cllr Tushar Kumar. The event was a vibrant gathering of residents, poets, and dignitaries to honour the cultural richness and global significance of the Hindi language.
Chaired by Deputy Mayor Cllr Parveen Rani, the evening showcased an impressive lineup of heartfelt poems and melodious songs. The Chief Guest, Manju Lodha, a renowned author, cultural advocate, and Chair of the Lodha Foundation, captivated the audience with her powerful recitation of Hindi poetry.
Prominent figures in attendance included Cllr Richard Butler, Mayor of Hertsmere; Cllr Jeremy Newmark, Leader of Hertsmere Borough Council; and Sajida Bijle, Chief Executive of the Council. In their speeches, they emphasised the importance of promoting diversity, cultural inclusivity, and celebrating languages like Hindi, which strengthen connections within and across communities.
The event also celebrated the remarkable contributions of local poets and participants, whose exceptional performances highlighted the beauty and depth of Hindi literature. From humorous verses to poignant recitals, the evening was a rollercoaster of emotions that left a lasting impression on everyone present.
