Highgate’s Jacksons Lane has officially launched its Spring programme, kicking off a landmark year as the iconic arts venue celebrates its 50th anniversary. This week’s launch event not only showcased the exciting performances lined up for the coming months but also reflected on the venue’s rich legacy as a hub for arts and community since its founding in 1975.

The event was attended by key figures, including Haringey Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Emily Arkell, and Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp CBE, the council’s Joint Assistant Director for Culture and Creativity. Guests were treated to sample performances of the cabaret, circus, and family entertainment acts that will take centre stage in the weeks ahead, offering a taste of the venue’s vibrant programming.

Speaking at the event, Cllr Arkell expressed her admiration for the venue and its contribution to the borough’s cultural life. “I had a really great time at Jacksons Lane’s Spring programme event. The acts were engaging, entertaining, and fun for people of all ages. I’d encourage Haringey residents and visitors to head to Highgate in the weeks and months ahead to enjoy a show as this iconic venue celebrates its 50th birthday. The calendar year has already started on a high note, with two sold-out shows, Christmas Comes to Moomin Valley and An Evening Without Kate Bush. The upcoming season promises more exceptional performances, including Darryl J Carrington’s family-friendly comedy Out of the Box, which celebrates the joy of play at every age, and the cheeky and heartfelt Naughty Cabaret, which was a standout hit at the Edinburgh Fringe. Other highlights include Tilly Lee-Cronick’s innovative and poetic performance Handful of Nothing, blending dance, aerial choreography, and puppetry, as well as Häppy Hour by The Nordic Council, a comedy-circus hybrid that explores life’s messiest moments with humour.

As Jacksons Lane looks ahead to its golden jubilee celebrations, it continues to inspire audiences with its dedication to creativity and community, ensuring that 2025 will be a year to remember for this beloved Highgate institution.
