Director William Brent Bell and writer David Coggeshall are also set to return. Fuhrman said the project is still in early stages, but she’s hopeful
Isabelle Fuhrman has revealed that a third Orphan movie is “definitely rumbling,” following Lionsgate’s recent greenlight of the horror sequel. The 28-year-old star will return as Esther—aka Leena Klammer, a psychiatric patient with a rare disorder that makes her appear like a child.
Director William Brent Bell and writer David Coggeshall are also set to return. Fuhrman said the project is still in early stages, but she’s hopeful. Speaking to ScreenRant, she shared, “It’s early stages, but it’s definitely rumbling. I just went to my first horror convention a few weeks ago, and it was so cool meeting fans. They really want another film. I loved the script, so I hope we get to make it. It would be really, really great.”
Plot and release details remain under wraps, but Lionsgate confirmed Dark Castle Entertainment is producing. Co-CEO Norman Golightly said, “With past success and a thrilling new story, we believe Orphan 3 will excite both old and new fans.” After the franchise began in 2009, a 13-year gap followed before the prequel Orphan: First Kill released in 2022. Fuhrman previously shared her surprise at being cast again, despite aging out of the role. Director Bell insisted on her return, using creative filming techniques to maintain Esther’s childlike illusion. Fuhrman also praised the twist in First Kill, where it’s revealed that Leena replaced the real Esther in her foster family, saying it subverted expectations: “It just flips everything on its head.”
