Jessica’s fresh hair isn’t the only area where she’s embracing transformation. When it comes to fashion, she’s equally open and experimental
Jessica Simpson is turning heads with a vibrant new hair transformation she debuted on American Idol over the weekend. The 43-year-old singer and fashion mogul traded her signature buttery blonde for a “desert sunset blonde” shade — a dirty blonde base with sunkissed highlights — in a bid to refresh her look with something “new and youthful.”
Her longtime colourist, Rita Hazan, explained the inspiration behind the change and the product that made it shine. “She was so happy to get a new look and switch it up,” Rita told People magazine. “We always did super buttery blonde — this time, we wanted something with more edge and energy.”
To achieve the polished tone, Rita used Glaze’s Supergloss in the shade Vanilla Lights, perfect for toning down brassiness and enhancing brightness. “It delivers a rich, shiny payoff, and a silky, polished finish that leaves hair looking refreshed and healthier after just one use,” she added.
The new look isn’t just about aesthetics — it reflects Jessica’s current mood and mindset. “I think it’s a fresh and young vibe, but with confidence and a slight attitude to represent her mood,” Rita said. “We’ve been in each other’s lives for so many years that there’s personal and professional trust.”
Their hair sessions are more than just touch-ups — they’re joyful, intimate rituals. “Usually I fly in from New York, and we have a hair party in her bathroom every six weeks,” Rita shared. “First, we catch up on life, then we laugh and tell very personal stories. It’s actually hysterical — I don’t think there was one time I went there and didn’t laugh hysterically.”
Jessica’s fresh hair isn’t the only area where she’s embracing transformation. When it comes to fashion, she’s equally open and experimental. Speaking about her Jessica Simpson Collection for Walmart, she said, “Style evolves as I do on a personal level. That’s the inspiration for my music right now… It’s an evolution of past, present, future, versatility, femininity, openness, and confidence.”
Whether it’s a vintage wallpaper or a performance in an old documentary, Jessica draws inspiration from the world around her — often with a little help from Pinterest. “Inspiration comes at me in visceral ways, every single day,” she said. “And I honestly don’t know what I would do without Pinterest.”
