Monaghan’s Red Carpet Secret

Currently starring in season three of HBO’s hit anthology series The White Lotus, Monaghan is savoring her professional high point

Michelle Monaghan has found a unique way to bond with her teenage daughter — by letting her do her makeup for major red-carpet events. The 49-year-old actress, known for her minimalist beauty approach, revealed that having her daughter Willow, 16, by her side during these moments is deeply emotional.

Speaking to People, Monaghan said, “It’s a perfect moment. Getting to be that close to her face and having her look at me so intensely and being so present with me, I could almost cry.” Monaghan, who recently became a spokesperson for high-tech skincare brand U Beauty, emphasized the special connection she shares with Willow through these personal beauty sessions.

Currently starring in season three of HBO’s hit anthology series The White Lotus, Monaghan is savoring her professional high point. Reflecting on her journey in Hollywood, she shared, “I’ve been around [Hollywood] for 25 years. I know that there is an ebb and a flow in any career. And so this is a real celebratory moment for me.” Despite the glitz and glamour, Monaghan’s path hasn’t been without challenges. A pivotal health scare — her melanoma diagnosis in her 30s — drastically altered her approach to skincare. In an interview with ELLE.com, she admitted, “In my teens and 20s, I had no concept of what I was putting on my skin. I was guilty of sometimes not washing my face and didn’t wear sunscreen.”

The diagnosis served as a “huge wake-up call,” prompting her to become more mindful of skincare ingredients and sun protection. “When you become a mom, you’re looking at the ingredients of all things. You look at not just how to protect your children, but become more aware of skin health. A lot of my routines changed,” she explained.

Monaghan credits U Beauty for helping transform her skin, particularly praising the brand’s Resurfacing Compound. “Honestly, within about a week, I just saw a noticeable difference,” she said, adding that conversations with a makeup artist about dark spots, fine lines, and hormonal acne led her to discover the brand. From embracing motherhood moments to celebrating professional triumphs, Michelle Monaghan is cherishing every chapter of her life with gratitude and newfound confidence.
