The study revealed that 28% of individuals who eat breakfast after 9am report experiencing symptoms of depression or a lower mood, compared to those who have breakfast early in the day. Doctors believe that making breakfast a priority can have positive effects on both physical and mental health.

These findings highlight the importance of setting a healthy morning routine. Eating a balanced, nutritious breakfast early in the day can help set the tone for better mood regulation, potentially reducing the risk of developing depression over time.

Although the study underscores the benefits of an early breakfast, it also points to the larger issue of breakfast habits in the UK, where many people either skip breakfast or rush through it in a hurry to get to work. Experts suggest that making time for a proper meal in the morning, especially before 9am, can play a significant role in boosting both mood and mental health.

Prioritizing breakfast may not only benefit physical health but also help improve mental well-being by reducing the risk of depression. Shifting habits to enjoy a nutritious breakfast earlier in the day could be a simple yet effective strategy for improving long-term mental health.
