At the forefront of their talks was a shared commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defence, deemed critical for both European and global security, reports Asian Lite News

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak engaged in discussions with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, shedding light on key developments stemming from his recent visit to Kyiv.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Sunak outlined the outcomes of his visit to the Ukrainian capital, notably the signing of the UK-Ukraine Agreement on Security Cooperation and the substantial commitment of £2.5 billion in additional military aid to bolster Ukraine’s defences.

At the forefront of their talks was a shared commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defence, deemed critical for both European and global security. The leaders underscored the necessity of providing the Ukrainian armed forces with the requisite weaponry to counter Russia’s ongoing invasion successfully.

Beyond Ukraine, the conversation delved into broader cooperation on defence and security, with an emphasis on promoting stability in the Middle East.

Amidst these strategic discussions, Prime Minister Sunak and Chancellor Scholz also addressed the pressing European challenge of illegal migration. Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, both leaders highlighted the importance of robust joint action across the continent to combat criminal people smuggling gangs.

A shared commitment was articulated to continue working closely on this pivotal issue, with a specific reference to collaboration during Italy’s presidency of the G7.
