The loss, Hilaria explained, was particularly painful due to her deep attachment to the pregnancy. “It was hard. I had an attachment, you know. I was excited
Hilaria Baldwin fought back tears as she shared the emotional pain of losing a baby during her fourth or fifth month of pregnancy. The 41-year-old yoga instructor opened up about the heartbreaking experience during an episode of her reality show The Baldwins, where she discussed the miscarriage that followed her IVF treatment.
“I had a miscarriage… [I] came out [publicly], had conversations that were hard to have for me. It’s a very hard thing to go through,” Hilaria revealed, struggling to hold back tears. “I tried IVF and everything seemed to be going really well… I lost the baby between four and five months… [The doctors] don’t know why she died.”
The loss, Hilaria explained, was particularly painful due to her deep attachment to the pregnancy. “It was hard. I had an attachment, you know. I was excited. When you have a later miscarriage, loss, whatever word you want to use, your body has to essentially have the baby… It is definitely a physically and emotionally hard experience.”
Hilaria and her husband, actor Alec Baldwin, married in 2012 and have since expanded their family. They are parents to Carmen, 11, Rafael, nine, Leonardo, eight, and Romeo, six, before turning to IVF. Their son Eduardo was born in September 2020, followed by daughter Lucia via surrogate in early 2021. Their seventh child, a daughter named Ilaria, was born in September 2022.
Alec, who also has a 29-year-old daughter, Ireland, from his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger, has been open about his feelings on fatherhood. In a recent interview with Il Corriere della Sera, he admitted that while he never planned for such a large family, he wouldn’t change a thing.
“I met my wife Hilaria when I was 53, in 2001, shortly before my birthday,” Alec shared. “We both love children and wanted to build a family together. We didn’t plan to have seven kids, but it happened, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I wish I didn’t have to work and could stay home with my children.”
Despite the challenges, the couple remains committed to growing their family and cherishing the moments with their children.
