BMW iX Redefines Electric Mobility with Enhanced Range and Performance

In a bold move to solidify its position in the electric vehicle market, BMW has unveiled the new edition of its all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the BMW iX. The upgraded model boasts improved driving performance, a significantly extended range, and advanced design features that emphasize its sporty, luxurious character.

Extended Range and Performance Upgrades

The new BMW iX sets a new benchmark in its category with a remarkable WLTP-certified range of up to 701 kilometers. This achievement highlights the effectiveness of BMW’s EfficientDynamics technology and advancements in eDrive technology.

The BMW iX will be available in the Middle East starting from the second quarter of 2025 in three variants: the iX xDrive45, iX xDrive60, and the high-performance iX M70 xDrive. All models feature dual electric motors providing all-wheel drive capabilities, with significant power upgrades across the range.

  • The iX xDrive45 now delivers 408 hp, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds.
  • The iX xDrive60 boasts a power increase to 544 hp, reaching 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.
  • The top-tier iX M70 xDrive produces a formidable 659 hp with a maximum torque of 1,100 Nm, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering 3.8 seconds.

Striking Exterior and Enhanced Interior Features

The exterior of the new BMW iX exudes a commanding presence with its monolithic design and characteristic SAV proportions. Notable updates include a redesigned BMW radiator grille featuring vertical and diagonal elements, as well as new adaptive LED headlights with vertical daytime running lights and turn indicators.

The introduction of an optional M Sport package accentuates the vehicle’s dynamic character, adding powerful air intakes at the front and vertical reflectors at the rear. Customers can now choose from a range of new finishes, including Arctic Race Blue metallic and Dune Grey metallic.

Inside, the BMW iX continues to offer an unparalleled sense of progressive luxury. The introduction of the M Sport package brings new M multifunction seats with enhanced lateral support, a two-tone instrument panel with the M logo, and high-gloss black finishes for the center console.

Cutting-Edge Battery and Charging Technology

BMW has introduced new battery cell technology that increases the energy content of the high-voltage battery by around 30%. Depending on the model, usable battery capacities now range from 94.8 kWh to 109.1 kWh, contributing to an impressive range increase of up to 40%.

Charging efficiency has also been optimized, with the iX xDrive45 now capable of direct current (DC) charging at up to 175 kW. The iX xDrive60 and M70 xDrive models can achieve a maximum charging power of 195 kW. Adaptive recuperation and a new MAX RANGE function further enhance efficiency during drives.

Enhanced Driving Dynamics and Safety Features

The chassis and suspension systems of the BMW iX have been fine-tuned for enhanced driving dynamics. The iX M70 xDrive features adaptive two-axle ride level control, electronically controlled shock absorbers, and sports brake systems for an exhilarating driving experience.

Advanced driver assistance systems come as standard, including Driving Assistant Plus with Active Cruise Control, Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant, and the Parking Assistant Professional option for remote-controlled parking via smartphone.

State-of-the-Art Connectivity and User Experience

The new BMW iX is equipped with BMW Operating System 8.5, offering an intuitive user experience through the BMW Curved Display and voice control with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Enhanced connectivity is ensured with 5G mobile radio aerials, while the BMW Digital Key provides seamless access to the vehicle.

Route planning has been optimized, allowing users to customize their journeys with charging station stops via the My BMW App. Precise information on charging availability, costs, and station infrastructure enhances convenience.

With its extended range, powerful performance upgrades, and luxury features, the new BMW iX sets a new standard for electric mobility. The SAV is poised to offer drivers a perfect blend of sustainability, luxury, and thrilling driving dynamics when it arrives in the Middle East market in 2025.
