The 55-year-old actor added that he wasn’t sure if Marvel had seriously considered him for Kang, but he remains open to working with the studio in the future
Colman Domingo has addressed speculation about him stepping into the role of Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), confirming that while he met with Marvel executives, he has no interest in replacing Jonathan Majors.
The Euphoria star revealed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that discussions took place about his potential involvement with the studio, but he prefers to originate his own role rather than take over an existing character.
“There had been conversations of me coming to Marvel in some way. So we did follow up with a sit-down meeting with the heads of Marvel. We talked openly about the landscape of Marvel or even the Kang rumors,” Domingo explained. “But I feel like I want a role to be mine, whatever that role is. Something didn’t feel right about replacing someone—I want to build something from the ground up that’s my own.”

Majors, who previously played Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was dropped from the MCU following his conviction on misdemeanor assault charges. His character was originally set to play a central role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but Marvel has since shifted its focus, bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Majors recently admitted he was “heartbroken” by Marvel’s decision to move away from Kang, but expressed his willingness to return if the opportunity arose.
“I love him. I love Kang,” Majors told TMZ. “If that’s what the fans want, if that’s what Marvel wants, then let’s roll.”
While the future of Kang remains uncertain, Marvel’s recent shift toward Doctor Doom suggests a significant change in the franchise’s direction.
