Pendulum Returns With ‘Inertia’

One standout track is ‘Halo’, featuring Matt Tuck from heavy metal giants Bullet For My Valentine, which was previously released on their 2023 Anima EP. Other notable songs include ‘Nothing For Free’, ‘Louder Than Words’ with drum and bass act Hybrid Minds, ‘Colourfast’, and ‘Napalm’ with Joey Valence and Brae

Pendulum, the acclaimed dance-rock band, has announced their first studio album in 15 years, titled Inertia. Set to release on August 22, this highly anticipated 16-track LP marks a bold and personal comeback for the group, featuring a diverse lineup of collaborations and new sounds.
Leading the charge is the new single, ‘Save The Cat’, an intense screamo-infused track that showcases the band’s willingness to push boundaries. Frontman Rob Swire revealed that the song was born out of a difficult period of self-questioning and frustration. “Love felt like something I didn’t fully trust myself with anymore,” he explained, hinting at the emotional depth of the album.

A press release described Inertia as a “rampaging, 16-track emotional maelstrom,” branding it as the band’s most personal work to date. The album features an impressive roster of guest artists from various genres, including members of Bullet For My Valentine, Wargasm, AWOLNATION, Scarlxrd, Joey Valence + Brae, and Hybrid Minds.

Rob Swire also shared how legendary band The Prodigy inspired Pendulum to experiment and evolve their sound. “I was basically testing how far we could push Pendulum,” he said. “The Prodigy started out as pure rave – breakbeat, hardcore – but evolved into their own unique sound. You don’t even really associate them with breakbeat anymore. They just are The Prodigy.”

The album serves as a breakup record for the band and a reflection of Swire’s personal journey. “It’s the sound of Pendulum finding themselves again, and me figuring myself out to a certain extent,” he said. “Breakups do that – they strip things down and show you who you are. I’m just trying not to become the guy who needs to go through one just to make a record.”
Pendulum’s Inertia follows their 2010 chart-topping album Immersion and promises to deliver a fresh, powerful sound that fans old and new will appreciate.

The band has announced a string of live shows this summer, including a major performance at Milton Keynes Bowl on August 9. For tour details, visit pendulum.com/pages/tours.
