Paramount Pictures India announced the new release date via Instagram, sharing a poster featuring Cruise and confirming that the film will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Sharing the update, the studio wrote, “#MissionImpossible – The Final Reckoning now releases early in India. New date – 17th May. The story picks up immediately after the events of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), with Tom Cruise reprising his role as Ethan Hunt. Filming began in March 2022 across various global locations such as the UK, Malta, South Africa, and Norway, though production faced delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, extending shooting until November 2024.

Meanwhile, as Cruise prepares for the release of yet another blockbuster, his acting prowess is being newly appreciated. Hollywood veteran Kenneth Branagh, who starred alongside Cruise in Valkyrie, recently praised him, suggesting that Cruise remains an “underestimated actor,” reports Variety.
Ahead of Cruise receiving the prestigious BFI Fellowship — the British Film Institute’s highest honour for actors and producers — Branagh shared his thoughts with The Times of London.
“If he ever tires of wowing the world with action, he’s going to surprise those who view him as only a movie star,” Branagh said. “What he’s done with Mission and Top Gun is unique, cinematic entertainment with a serious intent to give you a wonderful time at the movies. But he’s an underestimated actor, for whom a golden age of performance beckons.”
Branagh also noted Cruise’s genuine warmth off-camera, especially during his work in the UK. “He finds a quiet corner, enjoys the atmosphere, and is always gracious when he gets spotted. He’s a natural giggler and just enjoys what he does so much — and that’s infectious,” Branagh added.
On being honored by the BFI, Tom Cruise said, “I’m truly honoured. I’ve been making films in the UK for over 40 years and have no plans to stop.”
With the earlier release of The Final Reckoning and critical recognition for his contributions to cinema, 2025 is shaping up to be another milestone year for Tom Cruise.
