Beckham also reflected on how her past beauty mistakes have influenced the development of her own beauty line, Victoria Beckham Beauty
Victoria Beckham has revealed the best beauty advice she’s ever been given, offering fans a glimpse into her skincare routine and the valuable lessons she’s learned throughout the years. The 50-year-old former Spice Girl shared her thoughts on beauty and skincare in a recent interview with Elle magazine, where she emphasized the importance of cleansing not just to remove makeup but also to clear dirt and toxins from the skin.
According to Beckham, learning to cleanse properly was a game-changer for her complexion.
“Cleansing your skin; not just to wash off your make-up, but also to remove dirt and toxins and cleansing in the right way without stripping your skin barrier,” she explained. “I always listen to my skin. Sometimes I double cleanse; I love the lactic acid cleanser when I need a really good strong cleanse. But sometimes if my skin is feeling a little dry and puffy, then I like to use the oil cleanser and facial massage.”
In addition to cleansing, Beckham shared one of her own beauty regrets: over-plucking her eyebrows in the 1990s. She advises against this mistake, explaining that she now relies on a brown pencil to fill in the gaps that were left. “Don’t over-pluck your eyebrows,” she said, recalling how the trend of the time affected her natural brows.
Beckham also reflected on how her past beauty mistakes have influenced the development of her own beauty line, Victoria Beckham Beauty. She revealed that her experiences, particularly from her time in the spotlight, shaped her product choices. “I’ve seen so many pictures of myself in the past, and I’ve been able to learn from seeing those images in my development process,” she explained.
A key example of this was when she created the Lid Lustre Eyeshadow. “Being on stage and wearing a sparkly eye taught me so much, and it’s why I was so specific about the size of the pigments and the fallout of the products,” she continued. Beckham remembered looking back at photos where she felt her eyeshadow looked too harsh, saying, “I’ve seen so many pictures where I look like I’ve been punched in the face on stage because the pigments have been too large.”
As a result, she takes a meticulous approach when developing her products, ensuring they meet her high standards. “I am difficult to please and I never put anything out there until I truly believe it is the best in class,” she shared.
In addition to skincare and makeup, Victoria Beckham has recently expanded her beauty line with the launch of a new collection of makeup brushes. She explained in an interview with British Vogue that she spent a lot of time considering what brushes she desired and could not find on the market. “I spent a lot of time thinking about these brushes and what it was that I desired and couldn’t find,” Beckham said. Her brushes are inspired by calligraphy pens and have all “earned their place” in her new collection. “My focus is always on the ‘why,’ and the brushes that have made it into this collection have earned their place and right to be there,” she added.
With her hands-on approach to product development, Beckham continues to share her insights and personal beauty journey with her audience. Her commitment to quality, combined with her experiences in the beauty industry, makes her a trusted voice in skincare and makeup. As she continues to expand her Victoria Beckham Beauty line, it’s clear that her dedication to excellence remains a driving force in her brand’s success.
