Bringing together a diverse group of artists, Cultural Reforesting challenges conventional ways of thinking and prompts visitors to see themselves as part of a vast ecological network
Residents and visitors are invited to experience a compelling new exhibition, Cultural Reforesting, at Orleans House Gallery from 27 March to 31 August 2025. This immersive exhibition encourages people to reconsider their relationship with the natural world and explore how human life is deeply intertwined with the environment.
Bringing together a diverse group of artists, Cultural Reforesting challenges conventional ways of thinking and prompts visitors to see themselves as part of a vast ecological network. Through striking artworks, storytelling, and interactive installations, the exhibition transforms Orleans House Gallery into a vibrant space for creativity and dialogue about environmental change. Visitors will be encouraged to reflect on their role in shaping the future of the planet and how they can take inspiration from nature to respond to modern ecological challenges.

Councillor John Coombs, Richmond Council’s Spokesperson for Arts, emphasised the significance of the exhibition, stating: “Richmond upon Thames has long been a place where creativity and nature meet, and Cultural Reforesting brings this connection to life in a powerful way. Art has a unique ability to help us engage with big issues, like climate change, in ways that are emotional, imaginative, and inspiring. This exhibition is a chance for people of all ages to step into a world of ideas, explore their own relationship with nature, and leave feeling part of something bigger. I encourage everyone to come and experience it.”
The exhibition showcases work by artists who have dedicated years to studying themes such as the intelligence of plants, the deep-rooted connections between humans and animals, and the symbiotic relationships that exist within ecosystems. Through a blend of sculpture, sound, video, and hands-on installations, the exhibition offers an engaging and thought-provoking experience for all ages.
