Local families and performing arts enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend as the London College of Performing Arts and Theatre Street Performing Arts come together to host a vibrant Open Day at The Link in Thamesmead.
Set to take place from 3 to 6pm on Saturday, 5 April, the event offers a rare opportunity for the community to step inside the performing arts centre and experience first-hand how stars of stage and screen are made. Aspiring performers, young and old, will be able to tour the facilities, meet industry professionals and even learn a few dance moves during fun, interactive sessions.
The initiative is part of #CelebratingBexley, a year-long celebration of arts, culture and community in the borough. The programme marks several milestones, including the 60th anniversary of the London Borough of Bexley, and aims to showcase local cultural highlights where the city meets the river and countryside.
Councillor Cafer Munur, Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Place Shaping, hailed the event as a unique opportunity for local residents to connect with the performing arts. “We are incredibly fortunate in Bexley to have some brilliant theatre training schools, but the London College of Performing Arts and Theatre Street are hidden gems waiting to be discovered,” he said. “These amazing schools offer our children the chance to train with real stars of the West End and the silver screen. I hope the event inspires young people to explore their creative potential.”

Adding to the excitement, Gary Watson — West End star and Artistic Associate of the London College of Performing Arts — will be present to welcome guests. “We are thrilled to be part of the #CelebratingBexley programme,” said Watson. “It’s a wonderful chance to open our doors and share what we do. We hope to spark creativity and passion in the next generation of performers.”
Whether you’re a curious parent, a young dreamer with stage ambitions, or a local resident keen to explore something new, Saturday’s event promises to be a fun and inspiring afternoon for all. To reserve a place, visitors are encouraged to register via the London College of Performing Arts website.
