Game, Set, Match – New Era for Tennis in Harrow

Tennis is set to be a smash in Harrow’s parks again this spring, with Emma Wells Tennis netting the role of new operator on our recently refurbished courts.

Tennis in Harrow is gearing up for an exciting season as Emma Wells Tennis takes the reins as the new operator of the borough’s recently refurbished courts.

The experienced tennis provider will build on the success of Courtside (formerly Premier Tennis), which has brought more than 4,000 players to the courts, delivered 900 coaching sessions, and provided 2,850 free community sessions.

The partnership promises to make tennis more accessible than ever, ensuring high-quality facilities and programmes for players of all ages and skill levels.

New Season, New Energy

With the warmer months approaching, Harrow’s tennis scene is set for a refresh, including the launch of a revitalised community tennis programme this summer. The initiative will offer coaching, social play sessions, and special events to inspire more people to pick up a racket.

“Whether you’re new to tennis, or a seasoned player, our courts will continue to operate the same way. We’re working with Emma Wells to refresh our community tennis sessions which will bring even more fun and benefits. “

Janet Mote, Councillor

Cllr Janet Mote, Portfolio Holder for Community & Culture, welcomed the new partnership: “We are excited to partner with Emma Wells Tennis! With spring around the corner, I know many people will be looking forward to hitting the courts. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, our courts will continue to operate the same way. We’re working with Emma Wells to refresh our community tennis sessions, which will bring even more fun and benefits.”

Courts Revamped and Ready

In 2023, 36 courts across Harrow’s parks were fully refurbished, thanks to a £587,425.42 grant from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). The courts remain bookable via ClubSpark, ensuring a smooth and familiar process for players.

Meet the New Operator

Emma Wells, who already operates tennis in Merton, brings over 20 years of global experience in the sport. A triple LTA Award winner, she was recognised with the prestigious LTA Park of the Year Award in 2023.

“Our goal is to provide an open and consistent offer for people from all ages and abilities on these amazing courts in Harrow and to build communities of players as well as upskill the next generation of tennis leaders and coaches.”

  • Emma Wells

Emma shared her vision for Harrow’s tennis community: “Our goal is to create an open and welcoming tennis experience for people of all ages and abilities. We want to build strong player communities and upskill the next generation of tennis leaders and coaches. Tennis should be for everyone, and we’re committed to breaking down barriers to access.”

Get Involved

The current booking system remains unchanged, and details of upcoming community coaching and free sessions will be available on the ClubSpark website at Tennis Harrow.

Further updates will be shared with Harrow Parks Forum representatives, and both the ClubSpark platform and the London Borough of Harrow website will be updated with the latest information.

With fresh leadership and an expanded programme, tennis in Harrow is set for an ace season ahead!
