Join Bexley’s fostering events

Bexley Council is marking Foster Care Fortnight with local events and online sessions, highlighting how everyday moments in fostering can transform children’s lives.

Bexley is proud to take part in Foster Care Fortnight (12–25 May), a national campaign led by The Fostering Network to celebrate and promote foster care.

This year’s theme, “The Power of Relationships”, reflects the quiet, everyday moments of connection and care that make a lasting difference in the lives of children in care.

Throughout the fortnight, Bexley Fostering will host in-person and online events to engage with residents who may be considering fostering or want to know more about it. From relaxed community drop-ins to online Q&A sessions, the events are designed to be welcoming and informative. Full listings can be found on the Bexley events page.

Councillor Chris Taylor, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “Foster Care Fortnight is a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on the incredible role foster carers play in our community.

This year’s theme reminds us that it’s the everyday moments – the care, the consistency, the connection – that can make a lifelong difference in a child’s life. I would encourage anyone who’s ever considered fostering to come along, speak with our team and find out how they can be part of something truly life-changing.”

The Bexley Fostering Team will be out in the community during the fortnight, offering face-to-face advice and information at key locations:

Thursday 15 May – Morrisons, Welling | 10.30am–4pm

Monday 19 to Wednesday 21 May – Morrisons, Erith | 10.30am–4pm

Thursday 22 to Friday 23 May – Bexleyheath Broadway Shopping Centre | 10.30am–4pm

Visitors will have the chance to meet fostering staff, speak to current foster carers, and take home useful materials — all in a relaxed and informal environment. Online information sessions will also be held for those who prefer to attend from home.

Whether you’re curious about what fostering involves or ready to take the next step, the Bexley Fostering Team is ready to support you.
