This year’s awards saw a record number of honourees in the Young Achiever category, acknowledging the inspiring efforts of young individuals advocating for those with special educational needs and supporting residents experiencing hardship.
Fifteen outstanding individuals and organisations were recognised at the 25th Mayor’s Awards ceremony, celebrating their exceptional contributions to the Kensington and Chelsea community. Hosted by the borough’s youngest-ever Mayor, Councillor Will Lane, the event highlighted those who have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of residents, workers, students, and visitors.
The winners were nominated by members of the community and selected by a judging panel for their unwavering commitment to making a positive difference. During the ceremony, each recipient was presented with a special Mayor’s Awards certificate in recognition of their remarkable achievements.

Councillor Will Lane expressed his admiration for the winners, stating: “It was a privilege to celebrate the 2025 Mayor’s Awards winners for their commitment, passion, and selflessness, helping those in their communities by putting others first. These exceptional people and organisations enrich the lives of everyone in Kensington and Chelsea. As the borough’s youngest Mayor, I took great joy in reviewing the Young Achiever nominations, and I am thrilled to see a record number of honourees this year—proof that our future is bright.”
Among the winners was Rohan Mehta, founder of ‘In the Bag,’ who received the Young Achiever award for his work supporting people facing hardship. “I feel so honoured to be nominated, let alone win. I’ve been deeply affected by homelessness since I was young, and I started creating charity kits to help. So far, I’ve donated over 100 kits to churches and organisations in the borough. It’s important to do your part if you have the means, and RBKC has an incredible support network,” he said.
Carolyn Arnold, Chair of the Clarendon Cross Residents Association, was also recognised for her dedication to resolving local issues and fostering community spirit. “I’m delighted—it was a lovely surprise. I love what I do and the amazing people I work with, so to receive an award for something I enjoy is truly special,” she shared.
Another award recipient, Alex Coackley, Head of Advice and Guidance at Nova New Opportunities, praised the event for celebrating grassroots efforts. “It’s wonderful to see the work of our organisation recognised, particularly in helping those struggling with the cost-of-living crisis on the Lancaster West Estate. I loved attending the ceremony and witnessing the incredible contributions of individuals who have taken initiative to create meaningful change.”
