London Daily makes historic return to Fleet Street with digital and print editions

The editorial policy is focussing on “News is Local.” The newspaper wants to connect London’s diverse communities through local news and events. Tagline of the London Daily is “Local Paper for the Global City.”

The capital’s newest media venture, London Daily, celebrated its official launch at London’s City Hall, marking a significant milestone in British journalism with its innovative dual-format approach as a daily digital evening newspaper and monthly print publication. The publication will be based at Fleet House at Fleet Street Quarter.

Distinguished journalist Mihir Bose, Editor-At-Large of London Daily, presented the keynote address on “The Role of Local Media in Strengthening Democracy.”

While describing the aim of London Daily, he said, “ This publication will demonstrate how London changes.”

Anasudhin Azeez, Executive Editor of London Daily, outlined the publication’s vision, highlighting the strategic decision to combine daily digital news delivery with monthly print editions, emphasising their mission to revitalise Fleet Street’s journalistic heritage.

He also mentioned, “ The job of a journalist is to get scoops and write news and not getting views by doing clickbait journalism. It’s a dangerous trend and deviating the basic rules of stick with 5Ws and One H. Journalists are creative professionals and not technicians to push contents.”

The event featured notable speakers from Britain’s media landscape, including: David Smith, Economics Editor of The Times & Sunday Times, who brings four decades of prestigious journalism experience, Dominic Ponsford, Editor-in-Chief of Press Gazette, the industry’s leading publication, Navin Shah CBE, Former chair of the London Assembly; Colin Crooks MBE, academic and serial entrepreneur.

Nadia Ali, Chief Executive Officer of London Daily, presented the newspaper’s forthcoming projects and objectives. She said, “ A big congratulations to the entire team for where we are today. We have travelled the world and now we are at the Fleet street.”

The highlight of the evening was the official unveiling of London Daily, with David Smith, Mihir Bose, Dominic Ponsford, and Anasudhin Azeez jointly removing the wraps from the inaugural edition. The first publication from Fleet Street since 1986. Colin Crooks MBE presented the publication’s commitment to Education and Upskilling.

L George, Deputy Business Editor, delivered the vote of thanks, with final remarks from the event’s host, Rajan Singh Nazran. Krupesh Hirani, London Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow, delivered the welcome address.

In his address Hirani said, “London is a diverse city and it needs its stories told to all communities so we must support publications like London Daily.” London Daily represents a bold new chapter in London’s media landscape, combining digital innovation with traditional print journalism to serve the capital’s diverse communities. London Daily is city’s first daily digital evening newspaper, complemented by a monthly curated print edition.

Most prominent people in the project include Mihir Bose, former BBC Sport Editor; veteran journalist Nigel Dudley; the Sunday Times Economics Editor David Smith, Executive Editor Anasudhin Azeez; media strategist Sanjay Shabi; and academic Colin Crooks, MBE.

The editorial team is committed to bringing back the glory of Fleet Street with initiatives like: A Museum for News: Modelled after Washington’s Newseum, this project aims to preserve and celebrate journalism’s rich history. Fleet Street Walk of Fame: Honouring media icons like Alistair Cooke and fallen stars such as Marie Colvin with Metallic Stars on both sides of the Fleet Street.
