London girl bags world record

London girl musician, teacher, and cricketer Siddhiie Kapshikar grabs Guinness Book of World Records, Rahul Laud reports

Siddhiie Kapshikarr – a 22-year-old versatile Indian classical musician, educator, and audiovisual engineer working at HSBC set a world record for the longest marathon playing of Geoshred (a new musical App), covering 100+ songs across 25+ genres in a single performance. The public event highlighted the therapeutic power of music and the versatility of Geoshred as a new-age instrument. She also holds a record for playing the harmonium continuously for 10 hours, 23 minutes, and 22 seconds. Siddhiie played 75 + ragas and 25 + genres because improvisation and repetition weren’t allowed.

Young talented Siddhiie has dedicated her life to blending traditional Indian music with contemporary technology. A regular performer in the UK, she has graced prestigious venues such as Darbar Festival, The Nehru Centre, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, and Maharashtra Mandal London, showcasing her mastery in Indian classical and contemporary fusion music.
A Sangeet Visharad in Hindustani vocals and harmonium; a Bachelor’s in Hindustani vocals: She earned her undergraduate degree from Vishwakarma University, Pune, further deepening her understanding of Indian classical music.

Moving to London to study, she did her Master’s in Audio Production at the University of Westminster, London, specialising in music production, sound design, and multimedia applications. Siddhiie pursued a career as an audiovisual engineer and works at the HSBC headquarters in London. Her role involves operating and maintaining audiovisual equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and integrating cutting-edge sound and visual technology in corporate settings.

Shetall Kapshikarr (her mother and first guru) introduced her to Maharashtrian folk music. Madhuri Kolpe trained her in Hindustani classical vocals, helping her achieve a Visharad degree by age 16.
Dr. L. Subramaniam played a pivotal role in shaping her musical journey. Under his guidance, Siddhiie honed her skills in Indian classical and fusion music, mastering complex compositions and deepening her understanding of global musical traditions.

His mentorship expanded her artistic perspective, allowing her to integrate diverse musical styles into her performances. Kavita Krishnamurthy helped enhance her vocal techniques and performance skills.

Dr. Ruchira Kedar provided continued guidance in Hindustani music. Additionally, Siddhiie considers Yogeshwar Shrikrishna her celestial guru, having self-taught herself the harmonium and earning a Visharad by 18. During the 2020 lockdown, she mastered Geoshred, a revolutionary digital instrument, demonstrating her passion for blending traditional and modern music.

She offers personalised lessons, workshops, and digital content, merging classical Indian instruments with modern technology to create unique soundscapes.
