Pride plans unveiled in Greenwich

Greenwich is marking LGBTQIA+ Pride Month this June with a borough-wide celebration and vibrant programme of events—from library arts and crafts to a glittering Thames boat party.

Events will be hosted throughout June and into July, including activities at libraries, family-friendly performances, and a chance to join the METRO Charity at the Pride in London Parade on Saturday 5 July.

A spokesperson said: “Pride Month is a dedicated time to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ communities, raise awareness of the issues they face, and stand together against hatred and discrimination.

But this work continues all year round. We’re committed to ensuring that Greenwich is a warm, inclusive place where everyone can feel safe and proud to be themselves.”

The Council is encouraging local organisations to sign its Equality and Equity Charter—a pledge to promote fairness, inclusivity, and dignity for all residents. Staff across the Council will also take part in internal activities and workshops to reflect on allyship and equity in public service.

Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall Riots in New York City on 28 June 1969, widely seen as a turning point in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights. While most Greenwich events are taking place in June, the celebrations will extend into July, culminating with the Pride in London parade.
