Skate & Play: Fun Takes Off at Meridian Water!

Meridian Water is set to welcome its very first skate park and children’s playground, bringing a brand-new space for families and children to enjoy

The community is invited to celebrate the launch of Meridian Water’s first skate park and children’s playground, a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of the area. The special event, set for Thursday, 17 April, promises a day of fun-filled activities for families and residents of all ages.

A major highlight of the launch will be the unveiling of the park’s official name, chosen from suggestions made by local residents. Attendees can look forward to a professional skate workshop, a plant potting session, and live DJ music, all free of charge. The new recreational space, designed to offer something for everyone, marks another step in the efforts by Enfield Council and its partners to create a vibrant and inclusive neighbourhood at Meridian Water.

Cllr Ergin Erbil, Leader of Enfield Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: “Meridian Water is about benefiting Edmonton, and the new play and skate park is a great addition to the area. The Council is committed to delivering new community spaces, and it has been a privilege to see Meridian Water move from twenty new homes in 2023 to a neighbourhood of hundreds of homes. It is great to see residents now have a space for everyone in the community to get to know each other.”
Designed to be inclusive and accessible to all, the playground and skate park offer a variety of equipment, including a wheeled sports area, swings, slides, and a suspension bridge. The entire park is wheelchair accessible, ensuring that children of all abilities can join in the fun. Carefully placed seating areas provide parents and carers with comfortable vantage points to watch over their children while they play.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own skateboards, scooters, or roller skates to try out the brand-new facilities. Beyond the playground and skate area, the event will feature a local food vendor offering hot meals, while an ice cream truck will be on-site with sweet treats for all to enjoy.
This free community celebration is open to all, with no tickets required. The park has been designed by HTA Design and delivered by Meridian One and Two partners, Vistry, as part of the broader vision for Meridian Water’s development.
