Trump Organization launches ‘Trump Mobile’ with gold‑coloured phone and theatrical network prices

The Trump Organization has introduced Trump Mobile, a new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), accompanied by a self-branded gold‑coloured smartphone named the T1, priced at $499 – all set for rollout later this August.

Announced at Trump Tower by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, who run the business organisation which is also the holding company of the US President’s assets – Trump Mobile will lease airtime from the three major U.S. carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T‑Mobile), offering 5G coverage alongside a domestic call centre. The service is marketed as “The 47 Plan”, costing $47.45 per month (a nod to Trump’s 45th and 47th presidential terms), and bundles unlimited data, calls, texts, free international calling to more than 100 countries, telehealth, roadside assistance, and device protection .

“Trump Mobile is going to change the game, we’re building on the movement to put America first, and we will deliver the highest levels of quality and service,” Mr Trump Jr. said. The T1 Phone, An Android‑based smartphone, reportedly built in the U.S., is said to include a 50 MP camera, 256 GB storage, and a 6.8‑inch display. It’s due in September, with $100 pre‑orders already open.

Observers have questioned the feasibility of producing a $499 “Made in America” phone by fall, calling the promotional materials underwhelming – mock‑ups appear off‑brand with typos, and the hardware seems rebranded from Chinese-made devices. Eyebrows have also been raised on their claim to manufacture the phone entirely in the U.S., with critics saying it is fundamentally impossible to make the phone without importing components. Analysts also say the move raises fresh conflict-of-interest issues, given the heavily regulated telecom sector and Trump’s presidential role in influencing agencies like the FCC . Public Citizen warned, “Good luck getting a federal agency to hold the company accountable if service fails”. Harvard’s Lawrence Lessig added this venture illustrates how the presidency is being used to grow private wealth .

The bottom line here is, Trump Mobile blends American‑made branding, MAGA‑style patriotism, and modern telecom features, but scepticism remains over whether the product will deliver real value beyond appealing to Trump’s core supporters – and whether regulators or rivals will challenge its execution.
