Cherries Snatch Truffert from Rennes

The signing comes at a critical moment for Bournemouth, who are preparing for life without Milos Kerkez

AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of French left-back Adrien Truffert from Ligue 1 side Rennes. The 23-year-old defender has agreed a five-year deal with the Cherries, becoming their first major signing of the summer window.

Truffert, born in Belgium but representing France at international level, arrives on the south coast after an impressive rise through the ranks at Rennes. Having joined their academy at a young age, he made his senior debut in 2020 and has since become a key figure for the club, amassing over 150 Ligue 1 appearances. He also captained the side last season and featured in their final league fixture against Marseille.

The signing comes at a critical moment for Bournemouth, who are preparing for life without Milos Kerkez. The Hungarian full-back is reportedly close to sealing a move to Liverpool, prompting Bournemouth to move swiftly for Truffert, who is expected to slot straight into the starting XI.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Truffert expressed his excitement at the move:
“I’m really happy and proud to join AFC Bournemouth. It’s a great opportunity for me to keep progressing and to be part of an ambitious project. I felt the club’s confidence in me from the first discussions, and I’m excited to get started.”

He added:
“It’s a dream for any player to play in the Premier League. It’s one of the best and most competitive leagues in the world. I’m looking forward to testing myself at this level, facing top players every week, and helping the team achieve great things.”

Truffert’s international résumé is equally impressive. He has represented France across all youth levels and was part of the squad that won silver at the 2024 Summer Olympics. His experience, leadership, and attacking instincts from the left flank are expected to be key assets for manager Andoni Iraola heading into the new campaign.

Tiago Pinto, Bournemouth’s President of Football Operations, praised the club’s new recruit:
“We’re delighted to bring such an excellent talent to the club so early on in the window. Adrien is a player that we’ve admired for some time and he brings significant experience despite being just 23.”
“We’re excited to work with Adrien and are thrilled to have a player of such quality join us as we look to build on a record-breaking season for the club.”

Truffert will join up with the squad for pre-season training as preparations begin for the 2025/26 Premier League season.
