Renee Slegers Appointed Arsenal Women’s Head Coach

With a stellar unbeaten record and UEFA Women’s Champions League success, Slegers is set to guide the team through the 2025/26 season.

Arsenal Women have confirmed the appointment of Renee Slegers as the permanent head coach of their first team. The Dutch coach, who took charge in October 2024 on an interim basis, has signed a contract through to the end of the 2025/26 season.

Slegers made an immediate impact, leading Arsenal to an unbeaten streak of 10 wins and one draw across all competitions. Under her leadership, the team scored 31 goals while conceding only five. Her performance earned her the Women’s Super League Manager of the Month award in December.

In the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Slegers guided Arsenal to five consecutive wins, securing their place in the quarter-finals as Group C winners.

Reflecting on her appointment, Renee said:

“I’m so excited to be continuing our journey together. It’s a wonderful honour to represent this club as head coach, and I have so much belief in what we can achieve. The passion of our supporters and the collective spirit of our players and staff have been our greatest strengths. Together, we aim to deliver something inspiring and win trophies.”

Slegers first joined Arsenal as an assistant coach in 2023, following a successful tenure at Rosengard, where she secured back-to-back Swedish league titles in 2021 and 2022. A former Arsenal academy player (2006–2007), Slegers also enjoyed a distinguished playing career with Willem II, Djurgardens, and Linkoping, earning 55 caps for the Dutch national team before retiring in 2016.

Her appointment reinforces Arsenal Women’s commitment to excellence and innovation as they aim for domestic and European success under her leadership.
