After 20 years of service, reports suggest he is set for a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has described his final Liverpool appearance at Anfield as the most emotional moment of his career, saying he has “never felt so loved” by fans.
The 26-year-old defender faced criticism earlier in the month when he was booed by sections of the crowd after coming off the bench during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on 11 May. However, the atmosphere could not have been more different on 25 May, when he stepped onto the pitch during Liverpool’s clash with Crystal Palace at Anfield.
Greeted by a loud chorus of cheers, Alexander-Arnold played a key role in helping the team secure a 1-1 draw in what is expected to be his final game for the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, he admitted he had mixed emotions going into the game. “I didn’t know what to expect stepping out at Anfield after what had happened a few weeks ago,” he said. “I just wanted to play for the club one more time, and I’m grateful that the manager trusted me to do that.”
The emotional farewell clearly meant a lot to the Liverpool-born defender. “I’ve played hundreds of games for the club, but I’ve never felt so loved and cared for than I did today. That reception meant more to me than anything,” he said.
He also expressed hope that fans would eventually reflect on his contributions. “Hand on my heart, I hope one day the fans will be able to recognise the hard work and everything I have done for the team.”
Alexander-Arnold’s comments come shortly after Liverpool confirmed that he will leave the club at the end of the season. After 20 years of service, reports suggest he is set for a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Reflecting on his journey, he added: “There wasn’t a day, a minute, or even a second that I didn’t think about this team. Twenty years is a long time, but I’ve loved every single minute—through the highs and the lows. It’s been an honour.”
He concluded: “I’ll never forget today. It’s a very special moment for me. It goes down as the best day of my life.”
