Commenting on the departure, sporting director Ben Knapper said, “Jack made a big impact here in the time he was with us
Former Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere has officially parted ways with Norwich City, the club confirmed on Friday. His departure from the role of first-team coach comes by mutual agreement, marking the end of a brief but eventful chapter at Carrow Road.
Wilshere joined Norwich’s coaching staff in October 2024, following a stint as head coach of Arsenal’s Under-18s. After Norwich parted ways with head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup, Wilshere stepped in as interim head coach for the final two games of the Championship season—guiding the team to a goalless draw against Middlesbrough and a 4-2 win over Cardiff City.
Thorup had been appointed in May 2024 but was dismissed after a disappointing 1-3 defeat to Millwall. Under Wilshere’s short interim tenure, Norwich concluded the Championship season in 13th place, with a record of 14 wins, 14 draws, and 17 losses—falling 11 points short of the play-off spots.

Commenting on the departure, sporting director Ben Knapper said, “Jack made a big impact here in the time he was with us. He built great connections with our players and staff, and we’re all sad to see him move on. We’re very grateful for him stepping in as interim head coach, but we understand and respect his desire to explore new opportunities.”
Wilshere is now reportedly seeking further coaching roles, having enjoyed his brief spell leading the senior team. His next move will be closely watched as he continues to carve out a career in management.
