Brent Pupils Land Top Primary School Choices for September

The majority of children starting primary school in Brent this September have secured places at one of their preferred schools, with 96% receiving an offer from one of their top three choices.

The latest figures released by Brent Council show that 86% of applicants were offered their first-choice primary or infant school, mirroring the average across London. This follows a year in which demand for reception places in the borough dropped slightly, with 150 fewer applications than last year and a total of 3,250 on-time applications received.

Councillor Gwen Grahl, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools, welcomed the news. “I can’t wait to see what this latest intake of primary school children go on to achieve, and I’m delighted they’re starting their education journey in Brent,” she said. “Parents receiving these offers can have confidence in the quality of Brent’s schools, which are consistently highly rated by Ofsted, giving their children the best start in life.”

Brent Council is now processing late applications, with offer letters for those expected in May 2025. Thanks to continuing availability of places at a number of local schools, families submitting late applications are still likely to receive one of their preferred choices.
