LOSD Hosts Empowering Event at Cambridge University

In line with International Women’s Day, the event honored 38 extraordinary women through the launch of Inspiring Journey of a Woman, a book by the LOSD Publishing House

The London Organisation of Skills Development (LOSD) hosted a landmark event on 9th March 2025 at the prestigious Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge. The event celebrated achievements, shared knowledge, and inspired individuals from around the world, featuring a packed schedule of motivational speeches, insightful talks, and special recognitions.

The highlight of the day was the Skills Live Show, which featured 14 distinguished speakers who delivered short yet powerful talks, sharing their expertise and experiences. Keynote speaker Manon Dave, along with VIP speakers such as Esther Jones-Alley, Regula Fischer, Akash Mehta, and Jenny Gordienko, captivated the audience with their dynamic presentations. Topics ranged from unlocking creativity through technology to harmonizing human-wildlife coexistence and exploring the future of AI. These inspiring sessions left the audience motivated to push boundaries and embrace new possibilities.

In line with International Women’s Day, the event honored 38 extraordinary women through the launch of Inspiring Journey of a Woman, a book by the LOSD Publishing House. The book celebrates the stories of women from diverse fields who have overcome significant challenges and made remarkable strides in their respective domains. Notable figures recognized in the book include Prof. Dr. Parin Somani, Marisa Peer, Dr. Angela Soong, and HRH Princess Kendal Aminat, among many others.
Another key moment in the event was the launch of Global Thought Leaders of the Year 2025, a coffee table book that honors 37 global leaders who have made significant contributions to society. The book features thought leaders from various sectors, including politics, education, social change, and innovation. Among those featured are Councillor Salim Chowdhury, Dr. Theresa A. Moseley, and Marisa Peer, who have demonstrated excellence and inspired future generations.

The event also served as a platform for recognizing outstanding individuals and organizations through the prestigious LOSD Excellence Awards. Awardees included Gulam Rasul Ahad (Muhi), who received the Community Champion Award, and Patrice Brown, who was honored with the Women Empowerment Award. These awards celebrate the individuals who have made exceptional contributions to society through social impact, youth advocacy, and social innovation.

In addition to the live talks and award ceremony, the event featured a full day of skill-building through the SkillCast: The LOSD Podcast, where guest speakers imparted valuable knowledge to listeners. The event also spotlighted the leadership of Prof. Dr. Parin Somani, CEO and Director of LOSD, whose vision brought the event to life. A special acknowledgment was given to the dedicated LOSD team members – Nurbanu, Farin, Anna, Maxine, and others – whose support ensured the success of the event.
Beyond the event, LOSD is continuing its impactful work through 12 key initiatives, including global research conferences, an online course platform (SkillFlex), the LOSD Publishing House, and a networking portal aimed at connecting global skills for a better future. These initiatives aim to empower individuals, drive community development, and foster leadership worldwide.

The event at Fitzwilliam College was a true milestone for LOSD, reinforcing its commitment to global leadership, knowledge sharing, and skill development.
