Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, accompanied by his wife Akshata Murty, mother-in-law Sudha Murty, and their daughters Krishna and Anoushka, visited the iconic Taj Mahal on Saturday, amid tight security. The family had come to witness one of the world’s most renowned landmarks during their trip to India.

The family toured the Taj Mahal, and in a gesture of appreciation, Sunak signed the visitor book along with his wife. “A truly breathtaking visit. Few places in the world can unite like the Taj Mahal. Our children will never forget seeing this… We are so grateful to the warm hospitality. An unforgettable experience for our whole family. Thank you,” he wrote. Akshata Murty also shared her sentiments, writing, “A memory for the ages.”

On February 1, Sunak also participated in the Jaipur Literature Festival, where he was seen alongside his wife Akshata Murty and in-laws Sudha Murthy and Narayan Murthy.
Rishi Sunak, who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from October 2022 to July 2024, previously held various roles, including Chancellor of the Exchequer from February 2020 to July 2022. Before entering politics, he worked in business and finance, co-founding an investment firm that worked with companies globally. Sunak is a graduate of Winchester College and studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Oxford University. He was also a Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University, where he completed an MBA. Sunak’s trip to India and his engagements highlight his ongoing interest in strengthening ties between the UK and India.
