Jade Thirlwall and Jordan Stephens Compete for Celebrity Ally Title at British LGBT Awards

Sarah Garrett MBE, Founder of the British LGBT Awards, expressed excitement about this year’s diverse list of nominees. “It’s incredible to see such a strong and diverse shortlist this year

Jade Thirlwall and her partner Jordan Stephens are both vying for the title of Celebrity Ally at the upcoming British LGBT Awards. The pop singer, best known for her time in Little Mix, and Rizzle Kicks star Jordan, who have been together since 2020, have both been nominated in the same category.

Thirlwall faces stiff competition from a variety of influential figures, including Kingston University Chancellor Bonnie Greer, Coronation Street actress Claire Sweeney, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, and This Morning host Dermot O’Leary. Also nominated in the public vote are singer Jessie Ware, actor Neil Newbon, and Wonka star Olivia Colman, all of whom have actively used their platforms to support the LGBTQ+ community.

In addition to the Celebrity Ally category, the British LGBT Awards will also recognize LGBTQ+ Celebrities. Among the nominees are Big Brother winner Ali Bromley, sports pundit Alex Scott, TOWIE star Bobby Norris, Wicked actor Jonathan Bailey, and Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa.
The LGBTQ+ Public Figure category highlights those who have made significant contributions to equality, with Olympian and Loose Women star Dame Kelly Holmes, comedian Mae Martin, activist Suzy Eddie Izzard, and Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd among the nominees.

Viral moments from The Traitors and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! have also earned nominations in the Media Moment category, recognizing the impact of these events on LGBTQ+ representation in media and pop culture. In the Best Online Influencer category, LGBT celebrities such as GK Barry and Married at First Sight star Ella Morgan are nominated, alongside many others.

Sarah Garrett MBE, Founder of the British LGBT Awards, expressed excitement about this year’s diverse list of nominees. “It’s incredible to see such a strong and diverse shortlist this year. The British LGBT Awards continue to highlight those making real change, whether in entertainment, activism or business. These nominees represent the best of the best, and I’m looking forward to celebrating their contributions to LGBTQ+ equality in June,” she said.

Voting is now open to the public, with the chance to support your favorite nominees. Voting will close on May 1, 2025, and the winners will be announced during a star-studded ceremony in London on June 20, 2025. To vote, visit britishlgbtawards.com.
