Razorlight will be joined by some of the UK’s biggest musical talents at a massive outdoor concert this summer. The ‘Golden Touch’ hitmakers, fronted by Johnny Borrell, will headline an all-day event at Darlington Arena Stadium in County Durham on August 23, 2025. Alongside them, Ocean Colour Scene, Jake Bugg, and White Lies will perform, ensuring a packed lineup of chart-topping acts.
The day will also feature performances from Tom A. Smith, Pastel, Cammy Barnes, and Matt-Felix, offering even more variety for attendees. Tickets for this exciting event will go on sale on February 28, 2025.
Earlier this year, Razorlight revealed they would be supporting Kaiser Chiefs on May 31, 2025, to celebrate the Leeds band’s 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album Employment. This gig, set at Temple Newsam Park in Leeds, will be the Chiefs’ largest hometown show to date.
For Razorlight, this summer’s shows follow a significant milestone. Despite doubts earlier in 2023, Johnny Borrell admitted he hadn’t expected the band to release another album.
However, just a month later, Razorlight released Planet Nowhere, their first album in 16 years, featuring the classic lineup of Borrell, Bjorn Agren, Carl Dalemo, and Andy Burrows.
Reflecting on the release, Borrell said, “I really didn’t expect there to ever be another Razorlight album. I did it because it’s good, I wouldn’t make music for any other reason.” He also expressed hope that the album would resonate with more fans, stating, “One percent of our fans know it exists. Let’s try and get that to 5 percent?”
Borrell also spoke about Planet Nowhere’s single ‘Zombie Love,’ which he co-wrote with drummer Andy Burrows. “I was trying to land it somewhere between Outkast, Beck’s Midnite Vultures, and The Pixies,” Borrell said. “If I didn’t manage that, then sue me.”
As Razorlight continues to evolve, Johnny’s reflections on his journey show a unique balance of gratitude and defiance. “What can I say, I’m all or nothing,” he said. “I was like a lightning bolt striking the same place over and over again. The definition of madness, but maybe it brought something.”
With their return to the stage and a new album to promote, Razorlight is sure to bring the same energy and passion that has captivated fans for years. Fans can look forward to a summer filled with nostalgia, new music, and unforgettable performances.
