The Bromley council has unveiled a new Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2025-2030, inviting residents and organisations to provide feedback on its key priorities.
The proposed strategy builds on existing efforts to prevent homelessness and aims to end rough sleeping across the borough, despite nationwide challenges.
The plan sets out the council’s commitment to working in partnership to support those at risk of homelessness, ensuring access to suitable and affordable housing while reducing reliance on temporary accommodation. It also emphasises early intervention and providing tailored support for individuals and families.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, highlighted the borough’s lower levels of rough sleeping compared to other parts of London but stressed that homelessness remains a serious and costly issue.
She encouraged residents to take part in the consultation, saying, “We are committed to doing more to increase housing supply and work directly with those at risk of homelessness to prevent it before it happens.”
The consultation on the strategy’s priorities is open until 18 February 2025, with the council particularly keen to hear from organisations supporting homeless individuals and those with lived experience. Residents can share their views by visiting the council’s website.
